The New Lanark Organic Wool Spinners

Welcome to New Lanark Organic Wool Spinners website where you can buy from our excellent range of natural organic knitting yarns. The knitting yarn that we produce is made from 100% organic wool from the Falkland Isles and we are proud to be Soil Association accredited. In fact in 2006 our specialist organic wool spinning production unit was the first in Scotland to achieve the Soil Association’s organic certification – Licence No: DK 17194.

Our range includes aran organic wool, double knitting organic wool, and chunky organic wool to standard UK weights which allows you to use it for all your favourite hand knitting patterns.

At New Lanark Organic Wool Spinners the organic yarn is produced, spun and dyed with Soil Association certification at every stage in the process. The Soil Association symbol provides a guarantee to the consumer that the textiles are produced to the highest standards of animal welfare and environmental protection. By producing organically certified yarn at New Lanark Organic Wool Spinners we aim to keep our environmental impact to a minimum.

New Lanark mill is a small-scale producer of quality organic yarn, and our knitting yarn is produced using very traditional methods in one of the historic mills, where a 19th century spinning mule is still working, and is powered by renewable energy from our own hydro-electricity production.

Buy organic wool online from New Lanark Organic Wool Spinners and you can be secure in the knowledge that the wool you are knitting with has been carefully carded, spun and finished in accordance with the Soil Association’s strict guidelines. Our impeccable organic and environmental credentials ensure that our great value yarn does not cost the Earth.

At New Lanark Organic Wool Spinners we welcome trade customers. As an independent organic wool spinning facility our production unit is able to offer a ‘fleece to finish’ service to organic farmers, and we tailor our services for specific commissions from trade customers.

Our organic yarn is suitable for projects both large and small and is ideal for hand knitting, as our customers regularly testify.

New Lanark is under the care of an independent Trust and profits from the sale of our high quality organic yarn help the Trust to continue to restore and maintain the historic village.
